our history

The heartbeat of dance in Port Moody

Caulfield School of Dance is a space where passion and artistry come alive. For over three decades, families have stepped through our doors in Port Moody and discovered an environment filled with light, energy, and the spirit of creativity.

Founded by Artistic Director, Cori Caulfield, described by The Vancouver Sun as “one of the luminary talents of Canadian dance,” the school has built its reputation on excellence in dance, voice, and theatre arts. Cori’s vision, along with the dedication of an exceptional faculty, has shaped a community where technique and artistry are taught side by side with encouragement and care.

Every class, rehearsal, and performance reflects our belief that students are not only training as dancers, singers, and actors, but also growing as confident, expressive individuals. The result is a studio culture that celebrates discipline and achievement while nurturing joy, imagination, and lifelong friendships.

“I believe that the performing arts give everyone touched by them a deeper humanity, and a deeper appreciation of the power and beauty of expressing our individuality, of striving for excellence, and of the interconnectedness of all of us.”

− Cori Caulfield

our legacy of excellence

For decades, the faculty at Caulfield School of Dance has inspired, mentored, and guided generations of dancers, helping them achieve success at every level — from recreational enjoyment to the world’s most prestigious professional stages. Caulfield has earned a reputation as one of Western Canada’s premier training schools for dancers pursuing professional careers, while continuing to foster a lifelong love of dance in every student.

Caulfield alumni have trained and performed with internationally renowned institutions and companies, including The Royal Ballet School (London), American Ballet Theatre, San Francisco Ballet, Paris Opera Ballet School, Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Junior Ballet Antwerp, Semperoper Ballet, and Arles Youth Ballet Company. Throughout their careers, our faculty members have also trained dancers who have gone on to become professional artists around the world, including a Principal Dancer with Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet.

Our students have earned some of the dance world’s highest honours, including the Prix de Lausanne, the Hope Award at Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP), numerous Provincial Championship titles, international scholarships, and prestigious awards. Many have also enjoyed professional careers with Tokyo Disney Resort, Theatre Under the Stars, Disney, Norwegian Cruise Line, Carnival Cruise Line, and other world-renowned performance companies.

At Caulfield, we believe exceptional training extends beyond technical excellence. Our faculty is committed to developing strong, versatile, and confident artists through outstanding instruction, meaningful mentorship, and a supportive community, providing every dancer with the skills and foundation to pursue their dreams, wherever they may lead.

Each year, our dancers are selected to represent the region at the Performing Arts BC Provincials in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Stage Dance, Contemporary, Modern Dance, Musical Theatre, and Classical Voice.

Over the years, Caulfield students have earned provincial titles in every Performing Arts BC dance division, as well as both voice categories. Our dancers have also received top recognition at the PEAK Invitational Dance Competition Provincials and the Synergy Dance Experience Provincials, reflecting the exceptional training, artistry, and dedication that define the Caulfield community.
