Aerin Chow was in the Goh Ballet production at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, December 19 to 22, dancing the role of a Polichinelle in Act 2. Aerin’s Mom, Foong Peng, said, “The Polichinelles performed their dance with Mother Ginger and it was a wonderful! They had the audience clapping during their dance! The Polichinelles also had an acting role in the opening scene in Act 2, with the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Cavalier Prince. To see these Principal Dancers dance and to be in the same scene with them was a very special experience for Aerin.”
Many Caulfield School of Dance students were again cast in various local presentations of the Holiday classic, The Nutcracker ballet this year.
Jessica Becker, Mom of Portia who (along with Isabella Jiwani, Chiara Go, and Julia Jacobson), danced in the Alberta Ballet production), said that performing in The Nutcracker was an excellent experience. Portia “was a girl in the party scene in Act 1. There was quite a bit of dancing and acting in that role. The kids were on stage for nearly 30 mins! It was a beautiful performance.”
Caulfield School of Dance instructor and former Alberta Ballet dancer, Emily Nicholson, directed the local performers, preparing them for the December 28, 29 and 30 performances of the Alberta Ballet production at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, presented by Ballet BC.
Congratulations to all The Nutcracker performers!
