Chilliwack Festival Ballet and Modern/Contemporary

Friday, February 14, to Wednesday, February 19, Caulfield dancers competed in the Ballet and Modern/Contemporary Sections of Chilliwack Lions Club Music and Dance Festival (CLCMDF) with great success.

Kaia Goddard, selected as the CLCMDF Senior Modern and Contemporary Dance Provincial Representative

Huge Congratulations to Kaia Goddard, age 16 who has been selected by the Chilliwack festival as their Senior (ages 16 to 20 years) Modern and Contemporary Dance Provincial Representative. Kaia will perform her Contemporary solo choreographed by Hailley Caulfield Postle, and her Modern solo choreographed by Cori Caulfield, in Cranbrook, BC in the annual Performing Arts BC Provincial Festival in June. We are so very proud of you, Kaia!

In the Ballet Section, we had two groups compete: our Classical Half Day Program dancers placed 2nd in Group Ballet 15 – 16 years with their en pointe piece “Gloria”, and the Ballet Performance 2/3 Closed Course dancers placed 3rd in Group Ballet 9 – 10 years with “Clair de lune”. Both ballet groups are choreographed by Cori Caulfield.

In the Junior Ballet Section, Talia Yao competed with her first ever solo, coached by Julia Zennstrom and placed 2nd in the Open Ballet Solo Age 7 – 8 category. Julia Jacobson placed 1st with her Demi-Character Solo Age 10, and Portia Becker placed 3rd with her Demi-Character Solo Age 11, both choreographed by Cori Caulfield,

In the Senior Ballet Section, Lorena Morissette placed 1st for her Demi-Character en Pointe Age 16, choreographed by Cori Caulfield, and 1st for her Variation en Pointe Age 16, prepared by Cori Caulfield. Conrad Cahoon placed 3rd for his Variation Age 17 prepared by Isabel Yuan, and 2nd for his Contemporary Ballet Solo Age 17, choreographed by Cori Caulfield.

In the Modern/Contemporary Section, our Professional Training Division Senior Modern Group, “Down to the River”  choreographed by Cori Caulfield, placed 1st for Group Modern 16 – 21 years.  Our Performance Training Company Contemporary Group placed 1st for Group Contemporary 11 years, with “Heart Shaped Box”, choreographed by Hailley Caulfield Postle.

Aaliyah Fiorda

Aaliyah Fiorda placed 1st with her Contemporary Solo Age 15, choreographed by Crystal Wills, and prepared by Hailley Caulfield Postle. Elena Yu placed 3rd with her Contemporary Solo Age 15, choreographed by Cori Caulfield.

Aerin Chow placed 2nd with her Contemporary Solo Age 9, choreographed by Cori Caulfield. Chiara Go placed 2nd with her Contemporary Solo Age 11, choreographed by Lauren Taylor.

Kaia Goddard, the selected Senior Modern and Contemporary Dance Provincial Representative, placed 3rd with her Modern Solo Age 16, choreographed by Cori Caulfield, and 2nd with her Contemporary Solo Age 16, choreographed by Hailley Caulfield Postle.

Kaia will be performing her Contemporary Solo at the Chilliwack Lions Club Music and Dance Festival (CLCMDF) Honours Performance, at 1pm this Sunday, March 8, at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre.

Congratulations to all of the dancers who competed in the CLCMDF 2020 Ballet and Modern/Contemporary Sections!
