Katherine Cahoon was a Teaching Assistant at Caulfield School of Dance from 2012 and a Teacher Trainee from September of 2016. In that year she distinguished herself choreographing for group courses, including the Professional Training Division Musical Theatre group’s Christmas presentation, and several very successful competitive solo and duo pieces. After a year of having her own courses under the mentorship of Caulfield School of Dance faculty, Katherine became a Faculty Member.
Katherine completed her Royal Academy of Dance Vocational Examinations with a successful Advanced II examination when she was 16 years old. She has trained at Caulfield School of Dance in Ballet, Tap, Jazz/Lyrical, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre, and Modern/Contemporary Dance beginning at age 6. She joined the Junior Performance Training Company when she was 10 years old, and is now part of the Professional Training Division. She has been awarded multiple scholarships from Surrey Festival of Dance and other institutions. Katherine has been an awarded competitive dancer for ten years in all of her dance disciplines, both in ensembles, duets, and as a soloist, locally, and at the 2017 Seattle Semi-Final of the Youth American Grand Prix.
Katherine had her professional dance performing debut in Coriograph Theatre’s “The Poets” at the 2017 Dancing on the Edge International Contemporary Dance Festival. As an amateur performer, Katherine has performed with Caulfield School of Dance in many venues including Disney Performing Arts in 2013. She has also performed in two of Goh Ballet’s productions of “The Nutcracker”; sang, danced, and acted in multiple pantos with the Royal Canadian Theatre Company; and trained at ABC Acting for 4 years.
Katherine continues her professional development in dance after her acceptance to the Intensive Training Program of Harbour Dance. Katherine has her Standard First Aid CPR/AED Level C.
Katherine is thrilled to be teaching and choreographing at Caulfield School of Dance and looks forward to being a part of the development of her students both artistically and technically.
