Ballet, Pointe, Conditioning, Progressing Ballet Technique®
Caulfield School of Dance is thrilled to announce that Master Teacher Beverley Bagg will be teaching Ballet and Conditioning, including the Progressing Ballet Technique®, beginning September 2017.
Beverley Bagg danced soloist and principal roles with the national ballet company of South Africa, PACT Ballet Company, for 15 years before transitioning into a master teacher. She was Ballet Mistress at Alberta Ballet for 7 years before taking on instructing at Ballet BC. Ms. Bagg is also in demand as a guest teacher who has taught for many companies and schools in the US, Canada, and internationally, notably National Ballet of Canada, L’Ecole Superiuere, Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, Royal Winnipeg Ballet, and The Washington Ballet.
With a diploma in Biomechanics and Physiology from the University of the Witwatersrand, Beverley Bagg integrates her ability to assess the structure and limitations of a young dancer into her teaching. She is certified in Progressing Ballet Technique®, a unique training method designed to strengthen and address areas of weakness in ballet technique; her teaching has been endorsed by the PBT founder, Marie Walton-Mahon.
Beverley began her training in both the Royal Academy of Dance and Cechetti syllabi in Johannesburg, South Africa, and was accepted to the Royal Ballet School in London, England, where she completed her training. The roles she performed include Bluebird and Princess Aurora in “The Sleeping Beauty”, Odette/Odile in “Swan Lake”, the Sugar Plum Fairy in “The Nutcracker”, Swanhilda in “Coppélia”, Juliet in “Romeo and Juliet”, Giselle in “Giselle”, Kitri in Rudolph Nureyev’s production of “Don Quixote”, and the lead in Balanchine’s “Theme and Variations”. She has also performed works by renowned choreographers such as Jiří Kylián, John Cranko, Goh Choo San, André Prokovsky, and Sir Frederick Ashton. Since retiring as a dancer, she has been instrumental in staging “Swan Lake”, “Giselle” and “Romeo and Juliet” for South African Ballet Theatre and Washington Ballet. This seasons, she will lead the local cast of Alberta Ballet’s production of “The Nutcracker” at Queen Elizabeth Theatre.
We are so very fortunate to have the extraordinary Beverley Bagg at Caulfield School of Dance. “Ms. Bev” draws on her experience of over 40 years of passion-driven success as a professional dancer, teacher, and coach to offer a rich and insightful approach to teaching and coaching. She establishes an environment of positive energy and demands excellence in a nurturing and inspiring manner.
