Classes for 5 to 8 year old children

Courses for the young child develop expressive capabilities and the coordination of progressively more complex steps, shapes and rhythms through play, structured exercises, and finally performance in our annual, full-scale, spring production.

Ballet which imparts strength, flexibility and technical facility through classical lines and movements, gives the essential dance fundamentals no performer can be without. We offer a variety of ballet programs for ages 4 to adult ranging from once-a-week Basic Ballet programs for the recreational dancer to Professional Division programs which are custom designed to prepare students for a career in ballet performance or instruction. Ballet students can participate in Royal Academy of Dancing examinations from Primary to Solo Seal. We also offer classes in Vaganova and/or Cecchetti (Russian) techniques.

Character is European folk dance adapted into a theatre art. Character is a vital part of classical ballet training and is a component of the Royal Academy of Dancing Examination Syllabi for Grades I through VIII. Character can also be taken on its own as a performing course from age seven.

Chinese dance courses will expand the expressive potential of any performer. The folk and classical dance styles range from exquisite delicacy to explosive acrobatics.

Modern is the form of dance that emphasizes the expressive potential of the torso and the body's relationship to natural forces such as gravity and momentum. These courses for ages five to adult teach modern dance technique with movement exploration, guided improvisation, partnering skills and repertoire

Jazz is the most commercial dance form. Emphasizing presentation, extension of the limbs and isolations of the torso, jazz is a great workout. From lyrical to funky, jazz gives all dancers a broader range of style and vocabulary of movement.

Hip Hop or "Street Jazz", is fun, funky, aerobic and great for students aged seven to adult, with plenty or no previous dance experience. As seen in the music videos and concert tours of Hip Hop recording artists, this style is a must for any performer considering a career in commercial dance.

Tap is the fun, aerobic dance style that is an integral part of the musical theatre performer's skill set. Tap gives all dancers a greater understanding of rhythm and style

Musical Theatre courses are available for ages five to adult and culminate in a theatrical song and dance number for the year-end production. Become a "triple threat" by learning to sing, dance and act.

Acting students aged five to adult develop self-confidence and proficiency in improvisation, characterization, text memorization, cold reading, and other performance and audition skills. All acting students will perform scenes in the year-end production.

Singing is offered as a component of the Musical Theatre courses or as private and semiprivate voice lessons, usually to prepare a song for a musical theatre selection for festival competition and/or auditions. Singing drastically improves employment options and opportunities in the performing arts.

Acro is short for Acrobatics and this course concentrates on teaching gymnastic "tricks" or "passes" and tumbling. It develops the strength and flexiblity needed for the execution of such moves as walk-overs, cartwheels, round-offs, back-hand-springs, and arials.
