Welcome to the Caulfield School of Dance web site. We are currently developing a new web site which we expect to be up and running in the Fall of 2010.
You can still
view our old web site, but much of the information is obsolete.

Please call us at the School if you have any questions.

Caulfield School of Dance offers several excellent Summer Programs for beginners through to advanced* students.  The summer is a time when performing arts training can be enjoyed without the demands of academics (and warmer weather makes for easier gains in flexibility!).

*For students who have experience, the summer break is too long for the hard earned technical gains of the September to June year to be maintained.  Home practice is very important over the summer.  Our Summer Programs are a great way to maintain and even improve technique before the next year of programs begins, and necessary for those wishing to do fall 2010 R.A.D. examinations.

SUMMER PROGRAMS
Our Dance Samplers are for 3 year-olds up to Teens, from complete beginners to those with up to three years of experience.

For more experienced students, our
R.A.D. Maintenance Classes based on Royal Academy of Dance syllabi run Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from July 5 to August 20.

Dancers can take
Pointe Maintenance Classes right after each of the Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning Maintenance classes.

We also offer 10am to 3pm, Monday to Friday
Intensives, for students aged nine years and up, with a minimum three years training.

Dance Samplers
For one hour per day, Monday to Friday, the Samplers are a fun way to experience several of the disciplines offered by Caulfield School of Dance in one week. Students aged 3 to Teens can learn creative dance/ballet, tap, jazz, modern, musical theatre (singing, acting and stage dance) and/or hip hop.

The Samplers are very helpful for deciding which programs will be best for the upcoming September to June year.

All day immersion in training for even one full week produces amazing improvement.  It takes almost a year of a one hour per week course to match the in-class time of a one week intensive.

How to Register for September 2009 to June 2010 Courses

We are happy to help you with course selection and registration at the School during our office hours.

Our preferred method of payment is cheque but we also accept cash.

You will need to fill out the student information section of the Registration Form and a Student/Parent & School Agreement.

A non-refundable registration fee of $30.00 secures your place in class and helps offset the administrative costs for your enrolment and year ahead.

We have produced a Guidebook for every family who comes to the School.
This one time purchase is $5.00 and gives our School Rules, and answers (we hope!) all your questions on hair and attire for classes, stage make-up, the criteria for scholarships, and so much more.

We add the Important Dates Sheet to your Guidebook each year informing you of our Parent Viewing Days, Hair & Stage Make-Up Seminars Week, Rehearsal and Show Dates etc. Please bring the Guidebook back to us when you register each year and we will update it at no charge.

Tuition is based on the full September to June year, NOT by the individual class, nor by the month.
Students are required to make a full year’s commitment as all programs are progressive.

If you wish, you may give three payments with cheques dated the 1st of September, December, and April. A cheque processing fee of $5 will apply.

If you wish, you may give nine payments dated the 1st of each month, September to May. A cheque processing fee of $15 will apply.

A minimum $50.00 costume deposit is required for each performing course your child is registered in. Some costumes are rentals, and some you will be required to buy. Costumes may require minor alterations/additions for which you will be responsible. Your deposit is used towards the purchase of materials and design costs for the costumes used in the year-end show.

If you withdraw from a course prior to materials being purchased, or the last class in December, (whichever comes first) part or all of the deposit may be returned to you. However, if your withdrawal is after the costume has been started, you will be responsible for the full cost of the completed costume. Please note that the costume deposit is only a deposit, the average cost per costume is $60.00 to $100.00. When costumes are complete, any unused portion of your deposit will be credited to you (people usually apply credits to purchasing tickets for the year-end show) and any costs not covered by deposits will be applied to your account.

Absences may lead to exclusion from performing. When a student is excluded from performing, everyone in his or her piece and the instructor are adversely affected and extra rehearsal time is usually required. A $50 rehearsal deposit will be required at registration for every performing student. If your (child’s) lack of attendance necessitates extra time to a cost exceeding $50, you will be responsible for the cost. This deposit is returned at year-end when unused.
